THOMAS BURGESS and DOROTHY WAYNES were the immigrants to New England in 1630 and got to Sandwich, Mass in 1637. Several of the sources list this THOMAS’ father as a THOMAS born in Truro, Cornwall in 1601. I found that this THOMAS was in some extracted records in the igi. The problem was that the extracted record also shows he died at the age of one month. The family had another son named THOMAS, but he was born in 1621 and doesn’t fit time wise. Then, I found the NEHGR 118:323 points out that THOMAS and DOROTHY were married 1628 in Tanfield, Yorkshire, England. This is a whole different area than Cornwall. Savage points out that THOMAS was 82 when he died and therefore, was born probably 1602 or 3. The igi extraction records have a THOMAS BURGES born in 1598 (four years too early if the age is correct) at Pately Bridge, Yorkshire (close to Tanfield). That is what I have in the records right now until we can find something better.

Their first two children are listed as being born in Cornwall before the family came to America in 1630. But with the parent’s marriage in Yorkshire, that needs to be questioned; or perhaps the other way around. Are these the correct parents?
