WILLIAM WYARD, a cooper, and his wife URSULA lived for a few years art Saxstead, Suffolk, England. Around the year 1620 they moved to nearby Earl Soham, where the remainder of their years were spent.
In 1652 WILLIAM dictated his will and signed it with a mark. He gave his “wearinge apparrell and the full sume of Fortye pounds” to his son FRANCIS, twenty pounds of FRANCIS’s children, forty pounds to his son-in-law GEORGE GODBOLD, and forty pounds to his grandchild ELIZABETH SCOLEFEILD “to be paid into the hands of ROWLAND SCOLEFEILD her Father” until she reached the age of eighteen. To his son RANDOLPHE, WILLIAM gave forty pounds and also “all my tymber hewen and unhewen and all my tooles and implements whatsoever belonginge unto my trade.” The residue of his estate WILLIAM gave to URSULA, “my welbeloved wife . . . for her owne use benefit and maintenance. . .”
The will was proved 4 September 1657. How long URSULA lived is unknown.

FRANCIS WYARD my sonne All my wearinge apparrell and the full sume of ffortye pounds. . . to be paid unto him . . . in manner. . .followinge Tenn pounds thereof to be paid every yeare untill the said sume of ffortye pounds be fully paid. . . to begin at the end of six months next after my decease. . .if my said sonne FRANCIS shall depart this naturall life before he hath received his said legacie. . . so much thereof as shall be unpaid. . . shalbe equallie devided between the children . . .and paid into some freindshand as chosen by my Executors in trust for their best benefit and bringinge upp
the children of my said sonne FRAUNCIS Twentye pounds to be likewise paid into some freinds hands. . .in trust and imployed until the youngest child of my said Sonne FRANCIS livinge at the tyme of my decease shalbe of the age of sixteene yeares
