A genealogy researcher wrote to me that the birth record is for Per Martensson 17 Apr 1838 at Lund stadsfors, Malmohus, Sweden, illegitimate son of Johan Henric Thomander and Matta Persson. I understand that Thomander wanted nothing to do with the situation. That is probably why the birth name is listed as Martensson, Matta's father's name, and not Thomander. When Matta married Johannes Andersson, 6 years later in 1844, Peter became part of the family. When Peter came to the US in 1862 with my gr grandmother Anna Anderson, he took the name Peter Thomander and used it the rest of his life..
I looked at Johan August Anderson's (born Johansson) journal and he refers to "my half brother, Peter, was born on the 17th day of April 1838, before my mother was married to my father."
The following Seventy's record provides the same information as above:
Seventy's record, film Wrf pt 13 p 1 line 56 Historical Dept: Born out of wedlock in Lund Swdn; father: Johan Henric Thomander, who was Bishop of Lund and one of the seven rep of the church in the House of Commons. Moved to Copenhagen 1855. His brother Johannes says Per came to America with Anna in 1862 and that he (Johannes) went to see Peter in Tooele when he got to Salt Lake in 1863.
So he is generally shown in the family of Johannes Andersson and Matta Persson who raised him.
