Endres came from Bavaria/or Bevania, Germany at 18 years of age. He
first lived in Bellfonte, Penn. then in Clover Creek. He moved to Henderson
Twp., Huntingdon, Penn in 1866. The 1900 census said he immigrated in 1849. His mother and father were born in Germany.

Family records have Joseph Endres as the son of "Count" Josof Andrea. His
death certificate says his father is Michael Endres born in Germany. The death
certficate information was given by Miles Endres son of Joseph Endres. No
mother was listed for Joseph Endres on the death certificate. Joseph Endres
birthplace on the death certificate is listed as Germany. He is buried in the
Union Church cemetery. (JA He is buried at the Stone Creek Ridge Church cemetery up on the ridge at Huntingdon, PA. I have seen his marker. 4-03)

Joseph's Civil War pension application lists Baberig as his birthtown. His Civil War record contains 1) declaration for pension 2) application for funeral reimbursement. It has lots of good information. In JA file under "E."

Since I had the Attenhausen films coming inand I knew that Joseph was supposed to be from there, I wanted to try anddo some good with the source if my Weavers were not there (they weren't).First of all, I would suggest that the "Baberig" as the place of birth onJoseph's pension application should read "Baberia" and was a badly phoneticrendering of Bavaria. It is very rare to find the exact town of birth forGerman-born people of the 1800s on official documents. Usually the onlyplace they ever get recorded properly is in the church, as there is usuallya German speaking pastor in charge, who may take the time to note thosedetails.That is how I traced my Barbara Miller Weber of Hollidaysburg to herhometown of Bayersreid. I only knew that her maiden name was Miller andthat she was from somewhere in Bavaria. The church record of her death (St.Michael's in Hollidaysburg) said she ws born in Beiersreid, Bavaria, d/oMathias and Genofeva. (It did not even list her maiden name, just parents'given names, but I already had it as "Miller" thru 2 other sources). LikewiseJoseph's is one day off, but if you take his correct birthdate of 28 Jan.1830 and count forward 86 yrs, 6 mos and 21 days, you get his exact date ofdeath (18 Aug 1916), so the one that you and Alan have is justmiscalculated. (Going backwards you have to go to the day just prior to theactual calculation).I put post-it notes on your online GedCom for Joseph - you need to goupdate it.
